Wireless Citation - An Open Source Electronic Citation Application !!!
|
What is Wireless Citation
|
| An Open Source prototype to transmit Traffic Citations Wirelessy |
Wireless Citation is a functional Open Source prototype formerly intended to create traffic citations on a handheld but with the capacity of sending them to a remote data base wirelessly via GPRS o Wi-Fi. Thought for helping law enforcement organizations with no budget for a expensive commercial solution, the source code can be easily modified in order to make generic data base queries wireless applications, more suitable for privated organizations (inventory control, stores, etc.). Wireless Citation is based fully on Open Source applications like Apache Web Server, MySQL data base and PHP Server, It is compiled with EVC ++ 4.0 and It works on Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 with almost no differences. Wireless Citation is configurable through XML files and data is feeded through XML files as well. |
| So this is just a prototype? |
Yes, Wireless Citation is just a prototype and not a completed application but the prototype is fully functional. There are four modules missing that can make it complete, this modules are: the one for printing which is the most important module, the RFID/Code Bar/Mag Stripe reader module, Camera module, Authentication module (for hashing the password on the authentication screen). Because there are several handhelds vendors, is not possible to make a module for every device on the camara/reader, so this is left to the one deciding to keep on developing this project. The source code delivered for this solution so far is fully functional and fairly stable and I am including a module to send the citations wirelessly (via GPRS or Wi-Fi) to a remote data base in real time. This wireless capacity is not included on some more expensive commercial solutions which is an added value to this solution. Please read the ReadMe. doc file for more details. |
| Download |
I am providing the source code in this site. You can download all the files I use for this solution (please read the Readme.Doc file and the .ppt file to know how to use it). Because this domain is rented until 15/10/2010, I just uploaded a copy of this files in the SourceForge site, just look for "WirelessCitatio" project - yes, without the ending "s" and no spaces, or just go directly to the Project Wireless Citation link. Be careful, I am having problems with SourceForge (everytime I enter the download page my Internet Explorer crash), just in case, use this site as preferred for downloading the files. | |
